THE STEAM PACKET INN, TOTNES - RECOMMENDED

We stayed at the Stem Packet Inn whilst recently attending a planning appeal in Totnes.  The rates for bed and breakfast were very reasonable, with clean and comfortable rooms and a well cooked english breakfast.  The inn is situated on the banks of the River Dart and has 4 en-suite rooms.

The staff were friendly, organised and very efficient and the wild mushroom ravioli was rich and delicious.  Smiles all round.

TOWN MILLS GUEST HOUSE, DULVERTON - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

We had a planning appeal this week that was held at Wheddon Cross, Somerset, so we searched the internet for somewhere to stay and liked the look of ‘Town Mills Guest House’, Dulverton.

Dulverton is a beautiful little town, well-known for being the ‘Gateway to Exmoor’ It’s a small town with a delightfully quaint centre and whilst quiet and peaceful with very little traffic, was ‘alive’ with locals and visitors alike.  The glorious sunshine obviously added to the delightful scenery and made the mill stream and river sparkle.

Town Mills guest house is run by Bryan and Maggie Harrison and was a most wonderful find, it more than fulfilled our expectations and the whole experience was a complete delight.  There is a private car park and large garden to the rear of the guest house, lawn with seating at the front of the building next to the mill stream, beautifully decorated rooms that oozed a sense of comfort and were absolutely spotless, definitely value for money and the hosts were truly charming and welcoming. It was indeed, as it claims on the website “The perfect place to stay”.  (www.townmillsdulverton.co.uk).

TONGDAM RESTAURANT - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Another great discovery in Dulverton was the wonderful ‘Tongdam’ restaurant, which serves Thai cuisine.   We were lucky enough to have an incredibly warm evening, allowing us to sit the dining terrace adjacent the restaurant, the overhead climbers and vines, candles and beautifully scented exotic flowers on the tables, and the tranquillity of the setting, it feels so authentic that it is easy to imagine you have been teleported to Thailand.  The food was absolutely wonderful and the staff helpful, smiley and very efficient.
