Unfortunately the original building had been compromised by the addition of a ‘lean-to’ on the east gable end, joining it to a modern block of two garages and an implement shed. Also the south elevation verandah had been enclosed with modern UPVC glazing to form a narrow conservatory. The proposal was to create a self-contained ground floor annexe within the dwelling for the client’s mother. The remainder of the house together with an extension will be occupied by the client and his wife and children. The existing central corridor remains with a door to link the two areas. Thus the dwelling did not constitute a 'change of use' as it is remaining a single 'planning unit'. |
